Encrypted Sync.

Orbit encrypts your content client-side before synchronization. The server simply relays and stores encrypted blobs that it fundamentally cannot read.

  • Argon2id  key derivation
  • AES-256-GCM  content encryption
  • Local-first  data ownership
  • Server-side  auth & access control

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Orbit is fundamentally local-first. Your data only leaves your machine if you explicitly enable Secure Cloud Sync, which uses End-to-End Encryption before transmission.

Currently, the deeply integrated desktop app is optimal for Windows 10/11. However, our web-vault allows you to access and edit your encrypted notes from any browser on any OS.

Absolutely nothing breaks. Because Orbit runs locally, all your tools, shortcuts, and notes remain 100% functional. Cloud sync resynchronizes securely in the background once you're back online.
